I received an email from Diana Murphy, the Director of the Nassau Resource Center who indicated that at this point they have created approximately 100 gift baskets and served 108 children. It took us three trips just to move the toys from the Nassau Town Hall to the Resource Center, and that doesn’t include the Village’s contributions. That is what Christmas is all about.

I’d like to report to you that this year’s Thanksgiving as well as Christmas has been one of  the most successful holiday sharing seasons ever. The Nassau Resource Center was very blessed, with more generous donations than ever in our more than 30 year history of service to those in need. It is such an uplift for all of us to see the outpouring of community love and support of food for Thanksgiving,  toys, and financial gifts for Christmas. The pandemic made us rethink how to do our programs to best serve. With over 90 families at Thanksgiving the AMVETS, SCOUTS, Churches,  Bus Drivers, Nassau Community Connections, and many others helped us to get out the food. For Christmas, we had the help of The Town of Nassau, The Village of Nassau, Rensselaer County Department for Youth, The Library, DPS, the Teachers Union, along with countless others who helped with food and toys, and financial gifts.
The generosity of others allowed our volunteers to fulfill nearly 100 wish lists, including, baby dolls, a bike, table and chair set, electronics, stem gifts,  clothing etc. Every list was shopped for and completed with the Love shown through this community. Every family was given free Pizza certificates, milk cards, and gift cards which helps support our own local businesses. I cannot think of a better Christmas Present to our community than Love! “
